John's Posts

This week in Ottawa saw the marathon voting on the massive Conservative budget bill begin, the Nova Scotia NDP of Darrell Dexter government receive some positive reviews from two credit rating agencies, and a report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) which concludes that the Canadian economy is in fact suffering from Dutch Disease.

This past week saw important developments in both the riding and Ottawa.

For Immediate Release

June 1, 2012.

OTTAWA – New Democrat Member of Parliament John Rafferty (Thunder Bay – Rainy River) rose in Question Period to take aim at the Harper Government’s decision to shut down the Experimental Lakes Area research facility near Kenora.

This past Sunday record rainfall hit the Thunder Bay area including Conmee, Oliver Paipoonge, and the Fort William First Nation, which in turn triggered extensive flooding.  My heart goes out to all affected individuals, families, and businesses, but please know that your local, provincial and federal governments have been and will continue to work together to help you and our community get through this crisis.
